Cliften beach – Diminishing Sealife :|

(Location: Seaview, Clifton beach. *Clifton, Karachi. Pakistan)

I love the clifton beach- well atleast I used to. Its reminicent of countless joyous memories…going there with friends n family on weekends/ randomly/latenights/rainy weathers and cherishing the long walks, Horse/Camel rides, collecting Sea Shells, playing Volleyball, watching the beautiful sunsets, sand castles, drawing graffitti on the sand (and vying on whose lasts longer! )….Ah, *nostalgia*.

So yeah, been a while I’d gone there…

Monday night, We decided to go. I was looking forwarded to a long peaceful walk with Ma and Sameen in the cool sea breeze..but I had a different reception awaiting me.

It was hardly windy…anyways, the long walk still seemed attractive. We went on into the sand, swiftly past the dry sand area-cum-trash can, to the wet area. (Yes, I usually ignore the rubbish scattered all over the place )

Anyways, so I looked at the sea and I smiled : Theres still Hope. (Did i mention how much I love watching the sea waves gushing back n forth? like totally. <3)

I hadn’t even begun to take in the sea when I saw it – Dead fish lying on the shore…And not just one, they were all over the place… every 5-6 steps you’d see one or two lying around helplessly…devoid of any life. Heartbreaking :/

Whats Causing this, I wonder? Lets ponder over some viable reasons:

- Theres too much pollution in the sea to sustain life form?

- The lingering impact of the great Oil Spill (Tasman Spirit – 2003)

- Seaside serving as a trashcan?

- All sorts of wastage materials (Industrial waste, severage, garbage) being dumped in the sea?

Whatever be the reason, something needs to be done about it and Promptly =|
